Microsoft Partner Center March 2026: AI, Security, and Transformation

Microsoft has officially released a series of important updates through the Partner Center Announcements – March 2026. These updates focus on security, AI integration, partner management improvements, and cloud service enhancements designed to help partners and businesses adapt to the growing AI-driven ecosystem.

1. Mandatory MFA Enforcement for Partner Center APIs

One of the most significant announcements is Microsoft’s decision to officially enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all Partner Center app+user APIs starting from April 1, 2026.

After this date:

  • API calls without valid MFA authentication will be blocked
  • Systems may return:
    • HTTP 401
    • Error code 900421

Microsoft stated that this change is intended to:

  • strengthen security across the Partner ecosystem
  • reduce identity-based attacks
  • improve compliance with modern security standards

2. Introduction of Microsoft 365 E7

Microsoft also introduced Microsoft 365 E7, a new AI-focused productivity and security suite built for the emerging “human-led, agent-operated” workplace model.

Microsoft 365 E7 combines:

  • Microsoft 365 E5
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot
  • Microsoft Entra Suite
  • Agent 365

The new offering is designed to support:

  • enterprise AI adoption
  • AI governance
  • AI security
  • intelligent automation

Microsoft announced that Microsoft 365 E7 will become generally available on May 1, 2026.

3. Security Dashboard for AI Now in Public Preview

As part of its expanding AI security ecosystem, Microsoft announced that the Security Dashboard for AI is now available in Public Preview.

The dashboard allows organizations to:

  • monitor AI-related risks
  • track AI threats and security signals
  • consolidate insights from:
    • Microsoft Defender
    • Microsoft Entra
    • Microsoft Purview

This centralized visibility helps organizations better manage and secure AI environments.

4. Retirement of the Qualified Referral Program (QRP)

  • The QRP officially retires at the end of March 2026.
  • Replaced by the unified Referrals → Leads experience in Partner Center.
  • Key improvements:
    • A single entry point for all referrals.
    • Faster, standardized routing and improved transparency.
    • Unified reporting to reduce data duplication.
  • QRP data will remain in read-only mode for 90 days to allow partners to export historical records.

5. Updates to Extended Service Terms (EST)

  • Microsoft issues reminders and updates regarding Extended Service Terms (EST).
  • Partners should carefully track renewal timelines to avoid service disruptions.
  • Dedicated support channels are available for questions and clarifications.

6. Partner Center Enhanced with AI and Insights

  • Microsoft introduces ASPX – advanced insights to drive growth within Partner Center.
  • Real-time data and AI logic connect partners with the most relevant customer opportunities.
  • Upcoming ASPX training events will help partners maximize these new tools.

7. Accelerated File Downloads for Usage and Reconciliation Data

  • Effective May 15, 2026, all usage and reconciliation files will be delivered in .CSV.GZIP format.
  • Download times reduced by up to 98% (e.g., from 6 hours to 6 minutes).
  • Large invoices will be split into multiple files.
  • Precision updates: decimal accuracy expanded across key fields (UnitPrice, Quantity, Subtotal, TaxTotal, etc.).
  • New attributes introduced, including ProductCategory, with ResellerMpnId replaced by Tier2MpnId.
  • Partners must update downstream data systems to support the new format.
