Phu My Fertilizer Factory was officially handed over from the contractor to the investor, Phu My Fertilizer and Chemical Company on September 21, 2004. Since then, Vietnam’s nitrogen production plant is one of the most modern in the world, operated by 100% Vietnamese engineers and workers.
Phu My Fertilizer Factory has a capacity of 800,000 tons of urea/year, 540,000 tons of ammonia/year, using technology from Haldor Topsoe (Denmark) to produce ammonia gas and urea fertilizer production technology from Snamprogetti (Italy). . These are the leading technologies in the world with a closed chain, the main input materials are natural gas, air and the output are ammonia and urea. The closed technology cycle along with self-generating electricity and steam helps the factory be completely proactive in production even when the national power grid has problems or there is not enough electricity supply.
